The eighth nine houses of the bagua: mountain (wisdom)
The house of Mountain is about contemplation and inner knowledge, hence its more common name, Wisdom. Like the cave within the mountain, we need to be empty to receive wisdom rather than to simply fill ourselves up with the knowledge. Mountain's qualities include heaviness, solidity, quietness and inertia. Objects that carry the nature of Mountain include containers, like vases, and heavy furniture, such as chests, cupboards and cabinets. A bedroom has a mountain quality because it is used like a cave, becoming a container for your energy while you sleep.
- Do you feel good about yourself?
- Do you have a feeling of inner peace?
- Do you feel stressed and disconnected?
- Are you able to detach yourself from the rush and bustle of the day and feel calm?
- Do you make time for yourself to tune into your inner wisdom?
- Do you culvitative your own Mountain time - how good are you at retreating in mediation or prayer, or for a long soak in the bath?
The immovable energy is linked a great strength of will, the struggle to become established, and new benginings, with effort being expended in achieving and and being focused and single-minded. Earth is the physical opposite of Mountain in the bagua and so the relationships we have with ourselves and our inner world are extremely likely to have an effect on our relationships with the others. So those wishing to strengthen their relationships, or find a partner and establish a relationship, need to reinforce this area, too. Mountain represents soil energy and is supported by items that have a soil-like Mountain quality. It is also nourished by fire, which is represented by red, triangle, light, and anything that inspires, such as art.
When you strengthen the area of Mountain, you boost your sense of self. Do this with objects representing the energy - red colours, light and inspiring art. If you have an extension and find yourself involved in head-to-head arguments, drain the excess soil energy with metal objects.
A projection should be avoided if possible as this area needs symmetry and stability; a projection might create quarrels as couples will find themselves becoming increasingly separate in their opinions - like twin peaks of an immovable mountain. Ro rectify the potential problem, the excess soil energy needs to be drained by metal (such as white, curved, metal objects).
If the section is missing, the occupants will find it more difficult to feel peaceful and secure, and from such a base of instability it will be more difficult to create new beginnings. The mountain itself was formed by a rumbling energy in the earth, like a birth. As a result, if this eruption energy is missing in the home, occupants could find conceiving children extremely difficult; they may even have fertility problems. Moreover, Mountain represents early nourishment, young children will also find it harder to be successful here.

The house of Mountain is about contemplation and inner knowledge, hence its more common name, Wisdom. Like the cave within the mountain, we need to be empty to receive wisdom rather than to simply fill ourselves up with the knowledge.
