The true nature of Fire illuminates the self and others, which is why this area of the bagua is most frequently known Illumination. It represents clarity, vision, visibility and the eye, understanding and enlightment. Its nature is expressed in light, candles and anything that has been created from the inspiration or is likely to inspire us - sculpture, poetry, ceremonies and rituals, paintings by the great masters, classical music, treasures and sacred objects.

- Are you often easily swayed by opinions of others?
- Do you feel that your reputation is important for you?
- Are you getting recognition you would like or feel you deserve for your efforts in your work?
- Are you able to inspire friends and work colleagues?
Fire's associated with heat and incandescence gives it an explosive quality. The energy of Fire radiates in all directions and is like the peak of activity in the midday sun in summer. If you are not feeling inspired, maybe you are lacking Fire around you. If you have problems finalizing projects and feel unable to conclude anything, perhaps there is an excess of fire energy in your home - too much red or too many angular shapes. This fire is melting the energy of metal which helps you to complete projects and bring them to fruition.
Illumination means finding your way and this house of the bagua is directly opposite Water (The Journey), which is concerned with your path in life. The two houses - and their polarity in th enorth and south of the bagua - are about our sense of purpose and bringing vision into our life so that we can find that purpose, for it is much harder to steer a smooth course through the waters of life when Fire is deficient and clarity is lacking. If your career is in the doldrums, check the Fire area of your home as well as that of the house of the Journey.
Our passionate nature and ability to inspire others may require the stimulation of the red of fire, but take great care with these placements so that you are not overdoing it. You don't want to go too far and provoke heated exchanges in the household, which can be the result of too much fire energy. Take it slowly and gently at first.
If this area of your home is missing, poor eyesight may be an issue; there might be a lack of clarity, and problems with becoming well-known. A projection here is beneficial as regards greater fame and recognition but it may equally mean that dark secrets could come to light and bring notoriety with them.
