Review of Bonnie's Scraps and Shirttails by sao in Midlo, VA -

Bonnie's book (Scraps and Shirttails) is delightful - full of innovative ideas on how to store and use your ever growing stash of fabric. Bonnie creates lovely scrap quilts that are reminiscent of those that our foremothers made. Bonnie's ideas for using pre-loved fabric is fitting for our renewed interest in "living green" and avoiding conspicuous consumption. You will love Bonnie's sense of humor as well - this isn't just your everyday quilting book! I promise you won't be disappointed - but be forewarned, you are going to want to make EVERY quilt in the book!
Inspiring and well-written quilt book -

This is a great book for quilters who like scrap quilts, are interested in recycling, or are just ready for something a little bit different. The author successfully takes the age-old practice of making quilts from scraps and brings it into the 21st century, sharing her methods of recycling clothing to make beautiful quilts. She provides detailed instructions on obtaining and preparing the clothing, and gives quilters 12 patterns to choose from. Her pattern instructions are easy to follow with helpful diagrams. There is an abundance of good quality colored photographs of the author's quilts, including detailed close-ups. Overall, I found the book inspiring and very well done. Although any of these patterns can easily be made using new fabric, or scraps of new fabric, I look forward to using some of my thrift-store shirts to create a truly vintage look.
