I wanted an affordable, attractive chandelier to put over the center island in my kitchen - to replace an ugly, too-bright fluorescent light.
I had planned to install a dimmer switch, so that I could control the amount of light. However, this chandelier IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH A DIMMING SYSTEM. A large sheet of red paper warns you of this, once you receive the product; however, in the product description above, no mention is made that the three sockets ARE NOT STANDARD SCREW-IN SOCKETS, but a twist-and-lock system compatible only with Westinghouse's compact fluorescent bulbs (which are included in the shipment).
I suspect that this is why the product is so heavily discounted.
If you are looking for an inexpensive chandelier and you don't want to use a dimmer switch, then I would recommend this product. However if, like me, you assume that a chandelier would be equipped to use a variety of bulbs and to be set up with a dimmer switch --- don't be misled.
